MISSION:
Bothers About Change is dedicated to promoting the development of self-esteem, self-discipline, character, sportsmanship among children and youth in the community. Its mission is to promote the well being of American children and ensure them a promising future by grouping strengths, mobilizing the assets of natural support systems and coordinating community resources.

BACKGROUND:
Terris Harris, Jr. launched Brothers About Change in 1995 with a group of talented and enterprising young men who wanted to make a direct and positive contribution to socio-economically disadvantaged youth living in Memphis. As an avenue to reach its goal, the organization provides a variety of programs and projects.

GOAL AND OBJECTIVE:

• Reduce the dropout rate and school attendance
• Reduce the number of teens pregnancies and Sexually Transmitted Disease
• Reduce the number of violent crimes by teens, the growth in gangs and activity
• Increase the literacy rate
• Increase the awareness of community and instill pride in oneself
• Increase the visibility of opportunity outside high school
• Increase computer literacy
• Increase interest in math and science

PROCEEDS:
The proceeds from the Magic Johnson's evening of "Magic, Music & Passion " will benefit the Brothers About Change, a Local 501- c3.
